Steps ‘Steam’ walking for you!
This ‘Steptember’, the team at Steps are walking to improve the lives of children born with clubfoot.
Our work at Steps is inspiring and rewarding, every time we see a parent smile or a child run, it really makes our day.
A child born with clubfoot needs early treatment. The reality is that many children born in South Africa still need our help to access treatment. Neglected clubfoot is leading cause of disability in the developing world.
Around 2,000 babies are born every in South Africa with clubfoot. Their foot is twisted in at the ankle and pointed down. Many will not go to school, play with their friends, or be able to provide for their families when they grow up.
The Ponseti method, introduced, taught and supported by Steps, is 95% successful in treating clubfoot. We work regularly with babies with clubfoot and their families. We see the great impact that Steps is having on the lives of children born with clubfoot.
By working in Steps programmes, we have increased the number of children successfully treated, and reduced stigma around this treatable condition.
