Riding with a purpose.
Our #ClubfootChampion Martene Esteves, recently took on the 947 Cycle Challenge for children born with clubfoot. She and her team of 10 Steps Clubfoot Care cyclists set out to raise R15 000 to change the lives of six children born with clubfoot. They have since smashed that goal and raised an astounding R16 821.88. Martene also achieved a new personal record time, while pushing through the pain of a cramping muscle!

Martene says:
“It was a tough race, very hot and the new route was filled with loads of climbs! Luckily I had mentally prepared myself for the amount of climbing we’d be doing. Unfortunately I suffered a bad cramp in my quad from Kyalami until 2 days after the race… I managed to push through the pain and finish with a personal record of 04:19 hours. I am so proud of all the STEPS riders for completing this incredible race, with some of them riding for the first time! I was totally blown away by the amount of money we raised and I cannot thank our supporters enough for their donations. I look forward to supporting STEPS in helping achieve the goal of leaving no child with clubfoot untreated in South Africa, and hopefully Sub-Saharan Africa and the rest of Africa!”
