Clubfoot success storyNdalwentle Makoko is a patient at the Tygerberg Hospital clubfoot clinic. He lives in Khayelitsha, and travels an hour to the clinic for treatment.

Sweet little Ndalwentle was born with bilateral clubfoot. He is nearly two years old and is thriving. He runs around all day long and charms anyone he meets.  Solveig, a Steps intern from Norway, was thrilled to meet him at the clinic. The doctors are extremely happy with his development.

When Ndalwentle was born, his mother was very concerned that her son would be disabled, as she had no knowledge of the clubfoot condition. The doctors referred her to Tygerberg. She immediately felt safe and well taken care of by the clinic team and Steps clubfoot care. Now she is grateful and happy that her son will live an active life like any other kid.

Ndalwentle’s mom was very committed to his treatment. She made sure to attend every appointment with her son. She continues to use the clubfoot brace as advised.

Her advice to other parents who are on the clubfoot journey is: “Be patient and don’t panic. The Ponseti method works!”
