Understanding Birth Defects’

STEPS was recently featured in an article in Your Pregnancy magazine. The article focused on the five most common birth defects. Clubfoot is one of these defects. According to the the article “[a]bout one in 500 South African babies is born with clubfoot” which is higher than the world average:

Gorgeous little Lethabo was born with clubfoot at Victoria Hospital in the North West Province. She has an older sister who absolutely adores her. Her sister does not have clubfoot.

When she was born her mother, Lerato, was distraught and asked herself how this could happen. She did some research and went to visit Dr Bogatshu at his practice in Pretoria.

Laces for Braces, Our Clubfoot Awareness campaign launched 3 June 2016

In 2016 STEPS has launched a new clubfoot awareness campaign, called “Laces for Braces”, which was announced on World Clubfoot Day, 3 June.

We’ve called on schools, businesses, sport teams and all Ponseti kids to take part and wear a pair of bright laces to show their support of World Clubfoot Day.
