Girls raise funds for Steps Clubfoot Care

Southern Suburbs Tatler met two Cape Town schoolgirls who started a campaign to raise money to help children born with clubfoot.

The Southern Suburbs Tatler visited a clubfoot clinic in Cape Town to meet two young Clubfoot Champions.

Jemima McQueen and Aalia Jawoodeen are two Cape Town Grade 6 students from Micklefield School. They are running a fundraising drive during 2019 to raise funds to help children born with clubfoot. They will donate all proceeds of their drive to Steps Clubfoot Care.

Southern Suburbs visited Maitland Cottage Children’s Orthopaedic Hospital in Newlands. They interviewed Jemima and Aalia, and met some of the babies in treatment and their parents. They also observed the excellent care by  the doctors and physiotherapists who work at the weekly clubfoot clinic .

Jemima had successful clubfoot treatment as a baby. Her personal experience is her motivation to help more children who are undergoing the same treatment.

We are so proud of these true Clubfoot Champions . Thank you Jemima and Aalia for your inspiring campaign!
