grantGrant Watson will be riding the gruelling Joberg2C mountain bike race – a nine day and 900km task – from 24 April to 2 May to rasie funds for STEPS.

Grant was born with two club feet in 1978. After surgery on one foot an casting on the other, his feet healed well enough for him to be able to play all types of sports.

Since taking up cycling in 2003, he has spent many hours in the saddle to work his way up to ‘A’ batch seeding.

Grant says: “I have been able to enjoy mountain biking as well as all of the other sports I’ve participated in because I was lucky enough to have my club foot corrected. Millions of children aren’t as lucky as me, and have to go through life without the freedom of walking or playing sports. When I came across the STEPS organisation, I was touched by the amazing work they’re doing across the continent by giving children born with clubfoot the opportunity to live a normal life. It was clear to me that I had to get involved with this organisation and help them give others the opportunities that I had as a result of early corrective treatment.”
