Looking back at 2015

2015 has been a great year for STEPS. We have taken leaps and bounds towards eradicating Clubfoot as a disability in Southern Africa. Have a look:

Ponseti Parties at Clubfoot Clinics

STEPS spread festive cheer at five of our South African partner Ponseti clubfoot clinics in December.

We had fun Ponseti Parties at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, George Mukhari Hospital, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Tygerberg Hospital, and Maitland Cottage Hospital.

STEPS Success Story – Washington Chimalaro

Washington Chimalaro is a lively, 18 month old boy who first came to see us at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital in October 2014. His Malawian born parents were sad and shocked when they realised their son was born with clubfoot. His father, Steve jumped into action and did some research online on clubfoot and […]

Green Valley Shopping Centre and Manelis family donate to STEPS for clubfoot treatment

Green Valley Shopping Centre recently donated R3000 to STEPS to further the work we do in treating children born with clubfoot in Southern Africa. The centre hosted a Haunted House for Halloween, which included trick or treating throughout the centre. The entrance to the event was free but there were donation buckets where people could […]

A STEPS success story: Walking all over the place

STEPS baby, Cazzner, has been on quite a journey. She recently turned one and has started walking “all over the place”, her mom, Deborah, tells STEPS. When Cazzner was born with clubfoot, her parents were concerned. “When we finally found out the impact this could have on my child, it hit home,” Deborah explains. “I […]

#StepUp4STEPS: The story of the stories

Author Brené Brown once said: “When we deny our stories, they define us. When we own our stories, we get to write a brave new ending.” The clubfoot story is a story of hope, inspiration and determination. The happy ending is the gift of mobility. That is what STEPS wanted to highlight in our birthday month, to give more children the chance to write their own story. But what happened behind the scenes of the campaign?

A day at a clubfoot clinic

In Cape Town, STEPS has two programme partner clubfoot clinics, at Maitland Cottage Home and Tygerberg Hospital. Once a week, the waiting rooms are filled with parents and their clubfoot cuties coming for consultation, casting, or new boots and bars. Come along with us for a day at the clubfoot clinic!
